How can therapy help me?

As a professional counselor I have been trained to provide support, insight, enhanced coping strategies and problem solving skills for a wide array of issues. Some of the benefits my clients have experienced over the years have included: achieving a better understanding and acceptance of self,

What can I expect for my first session?

The primary purpose of the intial session is for the therapist and client to get to know one another, understand the full scope of challenge areas and collaboratively discuss desired change and what that would look like. By the end of this session the client should have a good sense if they feel comfortable in this setting and with me as their facilitator.

How long will I be in therapy?

It is difficult to make an arbitrary determination on this. Certainly complexity of the challenge areas, client's readiness for change, frequency of sessions and other similar issues are a factor in length of therapy and overall outcome prognosis​. It is my intention to openly discuss this issue with my clients and collaboratively determine what makes sense for them. As I see it, it is my job to work myself out of a job and empower my clients to be able to self-manage sustainable change.
